Shin Ling (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist who loves expanding and finding new ways to create art through photography, videography, poetry, singing, and playing the ukulele. Through co-founding an art collective, Collective 4891, and leading projects as a videographer, they have gained grounded knowledge in community organising, leadership, and management while pursuing their degree. Shin Ling also offers pay-what-you-can photoshoots in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal, and currently works in videography and content creation.
A strong believer that art should be an experience of healing, empathy, and connection, they explore thoughts and ideas that are authentic to their experience in their work; these include gender, race, sexuality, and mental health. Her passion for community and grassroots organisations is prevalent in her work experience with CJLO 1690AM, a community radio station, Collective 4891, and the Culture Change in Long-Term Care project at Recreotherapy.
She is currently completing her degree in Communication Studies program at Concordia University.
